Composed and performed for a papal Mass for Pope Benedict XVI in 2008, this piece is a chant-like anthem for SATB choir and organ with optional oboe. LeBlanc uses mixed meters to achieve the chant style, and his shrewd use of voicing—SATB on verses 1 and 3, women only on verse 2, and unison choir on the final verse—helps to underscore and clarify the intensity of the text. Suitable not only for Pentecost Sunday, but also at confirmations, ordinations, and rites of religious profession.
